"Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care." -unknown
Everyday I teach is a gift I give myself. I feel very fortunate to do what I passionately believe in everyday for a living. When I see those magical moments when children connect it all together, especially with reading I feel so fortunate and cannot believe I get paid to do this!
I was a social worker working with families that were involved with the state for child abuse or neglect for ten years. My children started school and I headed back to school with them, a marvelous daycare director, Marlene Hefferman encouraged me to pursue a career in education.
I worked for Parents as Teachers, where I went into homes where parents were pregnant to age three we did monthly developmental plans, parent groups, father groups and all kinds of community services. I have taught kindergarten, grade one and grade two. I have an undergraduate degree in social work from Eastern Nazerene College and a MSed from Wheelock College.
I have a wonderful partner and two great kids, family is the most important to me. I believe parents are the first and most important teacher in a child's life.
Oh by the way I am a huge animal fan. I volunteered for years at the Westbrook Animal shelter and we have a very big rescue dog.
